My thing is Become a Flight Paramedic
This is the perfect opportunity for me to extend my passion and skills for helping people, saving lives and further develop my career.
The nature of my goal
I am currently working as a Paramedic with St John Ambulance. In order for me to achieve my goal of becoming a Flight Paramedic, I need to gain my Advanced Paramedic qualification.
To achieve my Bachelor of Health Science Paramedic, I need to study part time through the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) for three years.
From the AUT website:
"Paramedics often work in remote or difficult environments, isolated from other health professionals. The critical, often complex, decision-making required of a paramedic is reflected in this degree. Clinical experience is gained in ambulance services, hospitals and community health settings."
"Applicants who hold ambulance qualifications are eligible for recognition of prior learning and a part time study pathway."
"Students develop skills in:
•Advanced patient and severity assessment expertise
•Problem solving in the pre-hospital management of medical and trauma emergencies
•Risk management, emergency planning and disaster management competencies
•Sound clinical judgment"
